2013 Harvest

« There is no doubt that the research and improvement of the quality are a long and everyday work!” says Jérôme Choblet, Vintner-Emotions’maker.

The season 2012-2013, rich in emotions, was not very easy !

The cold and few sunny spring which reminded us a little generous year 2012, caused us a lot of apprehension and vigilance… Finally the vine hasn’t been too affected by cold; flowering, a bit delicate, was delayed, and consequently the date of the harvest too…

After all the work put in place in the vineyard this year, arrives the time of the harvest... which were keeping us waiting ! On 27 September, our harvesting machine joined the first rows of Melon de Bourgogne, the Muscadet’s grapevariety. Thanks to a mild summer weather, the vintage looks auspiciously. Indeed, a dry summer with warm temperatures and a hint of rain in September perfected the maturity of our grapes, whose state of health was very satisfactory.

At the end of 12 intense harvest days, Jerome and his team can finally get them breath back. Alcoholic fermentations are now closely supervised until end of October. The ageing “on the lees” during several months will then take over to improve, refine, and develop the personality of our Muscadet Côtes de GrandLieu sur Lie, Chardonnay, Gamay and Grolleau.

Throughout next winter, each cuvée will be worked, chiselled, to explore and express at best the Terroir potential of each plot, each “clos”. Fine lacework…

In summary, a year of work has been crowned with a nice victory: satisfactory quantity and quality for a 2013 vintage with a good potential, which we will have the pleasure and pride to taste as early as the beginning of 2014!
